Corruption has always been a big problem for Pakistan is increasing day by day. Apparently, there are institutions like NAB , FIA and Ehtesab Office to curb corruption , but have been unsuccessful in their efforts.
According Perception Index of Transparency International Corruption , "In 2010 , Pakistan stood at 34 compared to number 42 in 2009."
This means that eight points has sunk deeper into corruption .
The irony is that , before the publication of the report of corruption in 2010 , some senior ruling party politicians publicly declared that there is no corruption in Pakistan and now the country is free of corruption .
The lack of acceptance by the government is the root cause of the problem. Any problems should be recognized first to make a commitment to deal with it, but this is not the case here.
According to the National Survey on Perception of Corruption (PNC ) 2010 of Transparency International, " The four major corrupt institutions are the police , electricity , Department of Lands and education" .
The president of Transparency International Pakistan , Syed Adil Gilani said : "Corruption is the root cause of poverty , illiteracy , terrorism , shortage of electricity, food , etc. , and the lack of governance in Pakistan. "
Corruption is the main element and like cancer is eating all institutions of Pakistan.
The most powerful institutions and profit earning of Pakistan and PIA , Pakistan Railways and Wapda are running low and are a burden to the nation only by corruption. These have been extracting desired heavy users of the facilities, but despite facing losses. Now Haj scam has come to the forefront that has led to the current government to the brink of crisis.
We must not forget that corruption is the most powerful weapon has been fired so far many governments in Pakistan , including the second PPP government .
